Pensioner angry over 'Municipal mistake'

A 70 year old pensioner in Tongaat is betting to pay back the money due on his account required by eThekwini municipality. Dhawraj Sithlu applied for a pensioners rate rebate in February last year, and it was approved.

The monthly statements were sent to him informing him that he qualified for a pensioners rate rebate and he should not pay the money due on his account.

Cheers for Tongaat children

Members of the Tongaat Trauma Centre rallied around and collected toys and money to purchase toys for the community of Magwaveni recently.

More than 100 children from low cost homes were given stationery and toys.

Spiritual "con artist" in Verulam

Verulam and Phoenix residents are being warned to be on the lookout of man thought to be a con artist, taking money from innocent members of the community, under the pretence that he would alleviate all misfortunes and bring about miracles.

The man pretends to be a spiritual healer and dresses in religious garments, asking the community to buy his miniature religious idols, which are predominantly used by Indian community.
